Serum electrolyte levels in relation to macrovascular complications in Chinese patients with diabetes mellitus

The 2016 China Diabetes Prevention and Rehabilitation & Health Industry Development Summit, co-organized by the Beijing Association of Chinese Medicine, the China Association for Diabetes Prevention and Rehabilitation, and Capital Medical University School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in partnership with the Global Stevia Institute, will be held in Beijing in mid-October, 2016. MetS was defined by the 2004 Chinese Diabetes Society criteria and microalbuminuria by urine albumin-creatinine ratio (UACR) ≥3 mg/mmoL. We found that systolic blood pressure (P = 0.015), prevalence of hypertension (P = 0.037), and risk of macrovascular disease (OR, 2.10; CI, 1.00–4.45) were significantly higher in subjects with the CC genotype than in the combined population with genotype either CT or TT.

Energy metabolism is associated with bone remodeling, and glucose levels also regulate parathyroid hormone and vitamin D levels[36]. GIP, secreted from K cells, which are located primarily in the duodenum, promotes secretion of insulin and β‐cell proliferation, and its plasma concentration remarkably increases after food intake.
