It is this hormone response mechanism that is thought to be responsible for hot flushes. Menopause acts like an hormonal see-saw, the lessening of estrogen levels is accompanied by an increase in the amount of F.S.H. and L.H.

During menopause, it has been estimated that the levels of F.S.H. and L.H. can increase by as much as 1300 percent during menopause.
